Lymphoedema is swelling of an arm, leg or other part of the body due to the lymphatic system's inability to remove excess lymph. This clear fluid plays an essential role in cleansing waste products and also in the immune system.
Lymphoedema can be primary (a constitutional malformation of the lymphatic system) or secondary (resulting from damage to the lymphatic system caused by infection, radiotherapy or surgery). This chronic condition can lead to loss of mobility and a feeling of heaviness, discomfort and pain in the affected limb, negatively impacting the quality of life of patients.
The management of lymphoedema is based on a multidisciplinary approach involving comprehensive decongestive physiotherapy (low-elasticity multi-layer bandaging, manual lymphatic drainage, skin care, exercises).
WITH CELLU M6 INFINITY® MEDICAL
Medical endermologie® treatments can be perfectly integrated into a multidisciplinary approach to treating lymphoedema.
Using specific treatment heads, medical endermologie® treatments mechanically stimulate the tissues to boost blood and lymphatic circulation and drain interstitial fluids. This action facilitates the resorption of oedema, limits lymphatic stasis and reduces the circumference of the limb affected by lymphoedema (remodelling).
The various tissue mobilisations (infinite Waves™) also soften fibrotic areas while improving skin trophicity through better cellular oxygenation and nutrition.
This precise and painless drainage is as effective at reducing arm volume as manual lymphatic drainage, with a 33% reduction in treatment time and a defibrosing effect*.
The success rate is over 50% and patient satisfaction is over 87%**.
Although compression bandaging remains the key to reducing the volume of limbs affected by secondary lymphoedema, medical endermologie® treatments are particularly recommended for early-stage lymphoedema. They help patients regain comfort and mobility in complete safety, making everyday life easier.
